Alexander Burke Roberson is a school administration consultant with the Bureau of Education Options at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, where he provides guidance on issues related to establishing independent charter schools as Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and provide technical assistance on meeting compliance and reporting obligations.Alex began his work with charter schools in the Memphis-Shelby County Schools Office of Charter Schools,the largest charter school authorizer in Tennessee, as the Advisor for School Governance & Compliance. His work included developing and implementing new systems of charter school oversight and accountability and defending local board new start, revocation, and non-renewal decisions before the Tennessee State Board of Education on appeal.Alex earned a bachelor's in political science from Auburn University, and a masters of political science and a law degree from the University of Memphis. He did a term of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA, a term of service as an AmeriCorps JD, and worked as a summer school special education aide two summers during college.In high school, he was the mascot, Rowdy the Red Devil.
